Know all men … that I James Green of East Haddam in Middlesex County … for the consideration of forty pounds lawful money received to my full satisfaction of Venture Smith of Haddam in the said County, … released and quit claimed . ..to Venture and his heirs & assigns forever all such rights & title as I, James Green, have or ought to have in or to one piece of land lying in Haddam Neck on the east side Connecticut River containing fourteen acres & 60 rods, being one half of a lot of land I … bought of Venture and is …  bounded as may fully appear by Venture’s deed to us … so that neither James Green nor any other persons in my name and behalf shall or will hereafter claim or demand any right or title to the premises or any part thereof…
